How to Entertain Your Teenagers During Break

If your are like me, after a week {or more} of celebrations where all the kids had far too much sugar and eyes glued to their cell phones, then you are most likely also looking for ways to entertain your teenagers for the week before heading back to school. It feels like the older kids get, the harder it is to find something that they will willingly participate in but also MAYBE have some fun too! Here are some of our families favorites – and while not all of them are free from screens, they do offer a chance to get out of the house and try something new together!

  1. SkyZone – this one is a no brainer for us! With two locations {Fishers and Plainfield} there really isn’t a better choice to get some of that energy out. Both locations have some unique options to them, so you could even make a day out of both if you’re up for a mini road trip through Indy! With 5 teens in tow, we recently visited the Fishers location and there wasn’t a face that wasn’t completely red and smiling by the end of their 60 minute jump session. Favorite features? The dodgeball field and the ninja warrior obstacle course! Be careful parents: I took on the foam pit and almost had to abandon a sock trying to slink out {ha!}

2. Duck Pin Bowling – this one is a bit of a throw back but sure to be a bit of silly fun for everyone! Even if you have been before, this sport is a bit out of the usual and something most teens haven’t tried before. I don’t know about you, but unless I roll the ball with a good shove, I find myself practically throwing it down the lane with a complete look of terror in my eyes. Take the teens down to fountain square, try your hand at some bowling, and maybe even grab a bite to eat at one of the great local spots nearby!

3. Movie Time – again, not a relief from screens but there is almost nothing else that can get all of my teens excited about heading out for the day than the promise of a movie theatre experience. Between the theatre down the road & all the popcorn you can handle all the way up to a theatre like Flix in Carmel where the seats & snacks are a bit of a luxury moment. There are so many great movies out right now to choose from {mine recommend Jumanji} that I am sure you would easily find one to please even the hardest in the bunch.
